Scottish-Finnish Society Independence Day Reception
Monday 4th December, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Edinburgh – by invitation
To mark this very special year for Finland, this year’s celebration is being organised by the Honorary Consulate in Edinburgh and will take place in the beautiful surroundings of The Signet Library in the city centre. The event will take the form of a champagne reception with entertainment provided by Glasgown Laulu choir and an ensemble from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra playing Sibelius. There will be absolutely no charge to members and the event is by invitation – please RSVP as specified on the invitations.
We hope you can join us for what is bound to be a very special event with a unique atmosphere – celebrating a prominent date in the calendar!
Akva and the Scottish-Finnish Society celebrate 100 Years of Finland!

Nordic bar Akva in Edinburgh’s Fountainbridge area is devoting the evening of Independence Day to Finland’s 100th birthday! Together with the Scottish-Finnish Society, it’ll be celebrating with food, music, drinks and entertainment – and of course, lots of quintessentially Finnish ingredients thrown into the mix (did someone say salmari and lonkero?!)

West of Scotland Finns Independence Day Gala Dinner
Wednesday 6th December, 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., Glasgow – tickets now available
Join West of Scotland Finns to celebrate 100 years of Finland in the heart of Glasgow! The event is taking place at the Grand Central Hotel, 99 Gordon Street, G1 3SF, and tickets include a toast on arrival, an aperitif, a three-course meal plus coffee, and the evening’s programme. Dinner will be served from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Get your tickets here (£40 per head, £35 concession).

Our annual Midsummer Barbecue took place on Sunday 26th June on an afternoon that started with glorious sunshine and ended with a typically Scottish downpour – but it didn’t dampen our spirits or our grilling endeavours!
