AGM and Great Finnish Bake-off part 2, Sunday 22nd March 2020

It’s almost time once again for our Annual General Meeting, and we’d love to see you there! This time, we’re heading back to Edinburgh Ukrainian Club near the city centre and pairing the business side of the meeting with something fun that some of you may remember from the 2018 AGM – the Great Finnish Bake-Off! The idea is simple – you whip up a delicious specimen of Finnish baking and bring it along to the event for our judges to taste, and we give out some fab prizes to the winners!

You don’t have to be the world’s best baker (and Paul Hollywood wasn’t available to judge, sadly) – we’d just love to see your creations! Vegan and vegetarian baking is also very welcome. Two years ago, a batch of Runebergin tortut was victorious – could it be your showstopper this time?

The AGM is one of the most important events in the society’s year and relies on the support of our members. This year, we’re also looking for some new, enthusiastic people to join our committee of volunteers. We welcome anyone who has a hands-on attitude and is interested in all things Finland – you don’t have to be Finnish or even Scottish! If you’d be interested, drop us a line at sihteeri@scottish-finnish-society.org.uk

The documents and agenda for the AGM will follow shortly. In the meantime, please save the date! Entry is free but we kindly ask non-members who want to enjoy the coffee and cake for a donation of £3 to cover costs.

A quick note: if you’re baking, please bring your creation in a suitable container and with a list of ingredients (particularly any allergens).

SFS saunoo – Loch Tay sauna, Saturday 27th July 2019

Then we have just the thing for you! After last year’s successful visit to the sauna at Loch Tay, the Scottish-Finnish Society has now reserved the whole sauna for two hours on Saturday 27th July to allow our members and friends to enjoy the sauna, the loch (with a slide!), the bar, the view and some excellent company.
